About The Position

General Trading is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to work onsite five days per week in Carlstadt, New Jersey. The role manages and maintains the organization’s SQL database environments to support optimal performance, security, and availability. The administrator designs, implements, and supports database solutions that meet business requirements and enable data-driven decision-making. The position monitors database health, performs maintenance, and troubleshoots issues to minimize downtime and data loss. It collaborates with development teams, IT staff, and business stakeholders to align database strategies with organizational goals and ensure data assets are reliable, secure, and accessible to authorized users across the enterprise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience administering Microsoft SQL Server databases in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, database design, and normalization principles.
• Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with SQL Server performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances and related database components.
• Monitor database performance and implement changes to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Perform database maintenance, including backups, restores, indexing, and integrity checks.
• Manage database security through access controls, encryption, and auditing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks and connectivity problems.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and support application development.
• Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Plan and execute database capacity planning and disaster recovery strategies.
