About The Position

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. The SPS Technician performs a variety of processing duties including decontamination, sterilization, supply, case cart assembly and packaging. This role fulfills all requirements for documentation to ensure the department distributes high-quality sterile products efficiently to meet customer requirements. The technician maintains thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, and utilization in sterile processing. They are responsible for running the floor independently in the absence of the supervisor and performing/delegating assigned duties. This position works in collaboration with the O.R. to provide patient-required instrumentation.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent.
Current "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc.(CBSPD) required or ability to become certified within 18 months of hire.
Ability to read, write and speak English required.

Nice To Haves

One year experience in Central Sterile Supply preferred.
