About The Position

The Sprocket Cell Technician is responsible for running parts as directed, interpreting work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans. This role involves operating and programming multiple lathes and hobbing machines, verifying settings through precise measurements, and maintaining specifications by observing various machining operations. The technician will also be responsible for running a welding area, ensuring safe operations, performing preventive maintenance on equipment, and documenting all actions and findings. Continuous learning and problem-solving are key aspects of this position, along with contributing to organizational goals and assisting management with any assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in the verification of parts produced with the use of varied measurement gauges which would allow for modifying off-sets to meet customer engineering drawing specifications.
  • CNC lathe and Hobbing machine experience.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
  • Secondary process experience such as: drill, tap, broach, assemble, welding.
  • Knowledgeable and willingness to operate machines at a demanding pace.
  • Ability to multitask to keep multiple machines running to meet deadlines as required.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to generate the correct finished dimensions.
  • Skills in monitoring performance of self or organization to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Skills in watching gauges, dial, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Skills in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Skills in conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Skills in controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Skills in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Good listening, problem sensitivity, quick response reaching time, arm-hand steadiness and rate control.
  • Ability to observe, receive, and otherwise obtain and enter accurate information in B&B ERP system.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Ability to provide information to supervisors, co-workers via telephone, written form, e-mail or in person.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines or be able to communicate those that cannot be met.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and policies as mandated by B&B.
  • Ability to stand on hard surface for the entire work shift.
  • Frequent walking.

Responsibilities

  • Run parts as directed with the ability to interpret work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Run and program multiple lathes and hobbing machines.
  • Use basic math to interface with the machine.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to documented and programmed standards.
  • Verify settings by measuring parts (i.e. T.I.R. O.D, I.D, etc.), first-run and production parts, and workpieces; adhering to documented and engineered standards.
  • Run and program a welding area for jobs that require welding multiple pieces together.
  • Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning and facing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform any other task assigned by management.
