About The Position

Springboard Fellow at Syracuse Hillel. This role involves building one-on-one relationships with students, planning and executing engaging events and programs on campus, and inspiring students to commit to Jewish life. The fellow will work with students to imagine, create, and refine experiences for Jewish life that impact student engagement, apply and scale successful initiatives, and develop new ideas for inclusive spaces. The fellowship is designed for recent college graduates with passion and skills to reimagine Jewish student life, offering training in Relationship-Based Engagement and Human-Centered Design. Extensive Jewish education is not required, but an interest in creating a vibrant Jewish community, a commitment to learning, and a desire to make a difference are essential. The role requires embracing challenges, taking risks, and learning from experiences, while maintaining passion and a sense of humor.

Requirements

  • 0 -3 years professional work experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit. Willingness to take risks and learn from wins and losses.
  • Confidence initiating and running programs, and comfort asking questions.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams both inside and outside of Hillel.
  • Recent College Grad
  • Experience as a participant and maybe even as an educator in a Jewish educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to shaping Syracuse Hillel by engaging 180 - 200 unique students.
  • Foster community amongst first year students through targeted outreach and 2 - 3 programs each semester in/near first year campus housing.
  • Deepen the connection between Syracuse Hillel and Jewish students in Greek Life through 1 - 2 large scale (100+ attendees) events each semester, 2 - 3 smaller scale initiatives, and engaging a point of contact in each fraternity/sorority with Jewish membership.
  • Engage in discovery conversations with students to create 2-3 new initiatives each semester based on student interests and priorities.
  • Meet with students from different cohorts and demographics on campus to engage them, identify their interests and connect to opportunities.
  • Map out a plan to strategically build one-on-one relationships with 180 - 200 students to deepen their connection to Jewish life and strengthen the Syracuse Hillel community by proactively finding students less engaged with Jewish life.
  • Supervise and mentor student leaders who are responsible for peer-to-peer engagement across campus.
  • Recruit for and teach Jewish Learning Fellowship for first years in the fall semester.
  • Be part of a team of professionals dedicated to creating an excellent Hillel to provide for the needs of Syracuse University’s 2,500 Jewish students.
