About The Position

A spray technician, or pesticide handler, applies herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides into soil or onto plants. The technician may need to manipulate nozzles, tubes, or hoses during spray application. The technician may be responsible for operating motors or machinery on some spray equipment, as well as, may need to use a variety of vehicles for transportation over larger areas. The technician may need to clean, adjust, and service tools/machinery and equipment. Perform any other duties/tasks that is required, assigned, and/or directed by management.

Requirements

  • Previous Spray/Chemical/Landscape Technician experience required.
  • Must be able to safely operate a golf cart.
  • Physically able to walk a large amount with a five gallon spray tank on their back or over the shoulder.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in humid/hot/wet weather conditions.
  • Must be able to safely operate equipment.
  • Must be able to provide preventative maintenance to keep equipment in working order.

Responsibilities

  • Sprays weed killer (Roundup) in planting beds, hedge beds, fence lines and driveway and walkway pavers to control weeds.
  • Uses small tank sprayer.
  • Responsible for certain assigned areas.
  • Picking up trimmings and/or debris.
  • Maintains community walks and lots.
  • Removes trash, debris, and junk from grounds.
  • Enforces safety regulations at the work site.
  • Apply pesticides to property grounds.
  • Manipulate nozzles, tubes, or hoses during spray application.
  • Operate motors or machinery on some spray equipment.
  • Use a variety of vehicles for transportation over larger areas.
  • Clean, adjust, and service tools/machinery and equipment.
