About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform the shipping and receiving activities for the Company Distribution Department. The person in this position is responsible for operating light and heavy equipment, such as the spotting tractor, in order to fulfill assigned job duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Operates spotting tractor to move trailers around on the Company warehouse lot. Loads/unloads merchandise to/from trailers. Maintains the work area in a safe and orderly manner by performing various maintenance duties such as picking up trash, sweeping, dusting, etc. Operates light and heavy equipment and tools such as forklift, tow motor, tugger, pallet jack, squeeze press, etc. to complete essential job functions. Performs light maintenance on department equipment as needed. Performs cycle count inventory. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required plus appropriate required certification; six months experience in a distribution or warehouse environment; or any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Requires the ability to assemble, process and tabulate data according to a prescribed plan.
Requires the ability to provide guidance, assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards to specific situations.
Requires the ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.
Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and/or descriptive data and information.
Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may require the ability to calculate decimals and utilize principles of fractions.
Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in dealing with situations involving repetitive or short cycle operations or duties carried out according to set procedures.
Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort, regularly involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of mildly heavy weight (20-50 pounds) and occasionally involving handling heavier objects (up to 100 pounds).
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents or toxic agents/chemicals.
