About The Position

The spot welder joins metal parts using a tool that generates intense heat. A welder can also polish and smooth out metal surfaces they weld together. They will use either a computer to remotely control equipment or hand-held equipment to cut or join metal parts, fill a hole or fix seams in metal.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Welder with a minimum of three (3) years in the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, squares, calipers etc.).
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift heavy materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is essential; however, vocational or technical training in welding is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in welding from previous jobs or apprenticeships can be crucial, even for entry-level positions.
  • Understanding safety protocols, and possession of safety certifications such as OSHA 10/30-hour training can be advantageous.
  • Continued education and certification renewal are often required to keep up with evolving welding technologies and methods.
  • Prolonged periods bending, standing, stooping, bending and working while welding various metal pieces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at times.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing blueprints
  • Managing machines that manufacture and repair metal structures, tools, and equipment
  • Planning layouts and measurements
  • Testing welded surfaces
  • Joining metal parts using intense heat
  • Polishing and smoothing out metal surfaces
  • Using either computer-controlled or hand-held equipment to cut or join metal parts, fill holes, or fix seams
  • Any other duty as assigned
