About The Position

USA TODAY Co., Inc. is a diversified media company dedicated to empowering and enriching communities through trusted brands like the USA TODAY NETWORK. The Knoxville News Sentinel and USA TODAY South Region are seeking a hard-working and energetic sports reporter to lead coverage of University of Tennessee men’s basketball in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role requires a dynamic, digitally savvy reporter committed to leading the conversation in a competitive market. The ideal candidate will use reporting skills to find and tell compelling human-interest stories and identify trends for enterprise stories that go beyond game results. This position requires multimedia skills, the ability to produce and edit video, and engage audiences on social media. The reporter must be SEO savvy, able to spot high-interest topics using engagement tools, and work independently while thriving in collaborative environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Reporting experience, preferably in a digitally focused news organization.
  • Commitment to detail, accuracy and fairness.
  • Ability to multitask and excel under deadline pressure, using time efficiently.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Minimum liability insurance required by state law.
  • Strong writing, reporting and multimedia skills.
  • Excellent news judgment and journalism ethics.
