About The Position

This role focuses on capturing dynamic, high-quality photos and videos to tell the story of Campus Rec programs and events. It is ideal for Film & Media students, visual storytellers, aspiring sports photographers/videographers, and those looking to build their portfolios. The position involves attending assigned Campus Rec events to capture both photo and video content, focusing on reflecting the energy and community of each event rather than just outcomes. The student worker will follow creative direction and shot lists while contributing their own creativity, and will be responsible for editing photos and organizing content weekly with clear file names and usage notes. Staying up-to-date on visual content trends is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • Experience with photo/video editing software.
  • Minimum 15 hours per week including some weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfortable with light editing (in Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar).
  • Can work some evenings when events are happening.

Responsibilities

  • Attend assigned Campus Rec events and capture both photo and video content (e.g., intramurals, club sports, fitness events).
  • Compose and deliver shots that reflect the energy and community of each event — not just “who won the game.”
  • Follow creative direction and shot lists provided by the Communications Manager, while bringing your own creativity to the table.
  • Edit photos.
  • Organize content weekly in shared folders, with clear file names and usage notes.
  • Stay up to date on trends in visual content (e.g. Reels, sports photography, behind-the-scenes clips).
