The Sports Owner role operates at a Senior Trader level within the Sportsbook Trading Team. The core responsibilities include price management, risk oversight, and ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our sportsbook offering across all sports. Additionally, the Sports Owner will take specific ownership of a particular sport, serving as the internal authority for its pricing strategy, feature set, and competitive positioning, while still participating in daily trading and risk management duties. We are looking for individuals to own specific sports such as NHL, Combat Sports, Golf, Table Tennis, eSports, and Tennis. Each owner will be the recognized specialist for their sport, providing expertise on its markets, pricing, and content, while also contributing to the overall performance of the trading desk. The role involves managing third-party data feeds and trading tools to maintain market integrity, optimize margins, and mitigate risk, with a focus on the owned sport and broader coverage responsibilities. This includes responding to real-time market movements, ensuring competitive and compliant pricing, and leading improvements in pricing, market depth, and feature parity relative to competitors. The position requires a deep understanding of trading systems and third-party integrations, defining requirements, benchmarking against competitors, and providing feedback to product and trading teams. Strong trading judgment, contribution to operational excellence, and support for junior traders are essential.

Requirements

Extensive sportsbook trading experience.
Strong grasp of risk management principles.
Deep, demonstrable expertise as a sports owner, including its rules, nuances, player analytics, and betting behaviors.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong numerical and technical skills.
Ability to interpret data to inform both day-to-day trading decisions and longer-term strategy.
Proactive and organized.
Proven ability to react quickly and logically during live events or high-volume periods.
Proven ability to manage, assess, and optimize third-party odds and data feeds.
Proficiency in Excel and trading platforms.
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Manage multiple third-party data feeds and trading tools to maintain market integrity, optimize margins, and mitigate risk.
Respond to market movements in real time, ensure pricing remains both competitive and compliant.
Lead the refinement and improvement of the owned sport's pricing, market depth, and feature parity relative to competitors.
Develop a deep understanding of trading systems and third-party integrations.
Help define requirements, benchmark against competitors, and feed testing insights back into product and trading teams for the owned sport.
Demonstrate strong trading judgment and contribute to operational excellence across the team's shared workload.
Support the training and development of junior traders.
Monitor real-time exposure across covered sports, proactively identify betting patterns and sharp action, set appropriate limits, and implement risk management protocols to protect margin and profitability.
Manage, assess, and optimize third-party odds and data feeds.
Create bespoke prices where needed and resolve feed issues to maintain data accuracy.
Conduct regular competitor benchmarking for the owned sport across major operators, assessing pricing competitiveness, market uptime, and feature parity.
Feed findings into product, quant, and trading management to shape roadmap priorities and pricing improvements.
Evaluate the effectiveness of trading strategies and product performance, analyzing large datasets to identify value leaks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
Produce data-driven reports for senior management highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Provide guidance and coaching to junior and mid-level traders, sharing best practice in bookmaking, modeling, and risk principles.
Fulfill standard Senior Trader responsibilities across the wider desk, not solely the owned sport.
Partner with product, quant, technology, and operations teams to develop new markets, refine customer experience, and support innovation for the owned sport.
Contribute insights that benefit the broader sportsbook.
Present insights clearly and collaborate effectively across multiple teams and senior stakeholders.
