About The Position

Under the supervision of the Youth Sports & Engagement Specialist, the Sports Instructor is responsible for developing program lesson plans that focus on skill development and fun for sports like soccer, baseball, and basketball. This role involves setting up and tearing down equipment, evaluating participant performance, distributing program information, and mentoring young participants. The instructor must also adhere to all safety procedures relevant to their duties and support the Park District’s overall safety protocols.

Requirements

Ability to teach sports skills and fundamentals to young athletes in a safe manner, emphasizing sportsmanship at all times.
Desire and ability to work with children.
Possess the ability to lead others in group and individual activities, demonstrating necessary steps and skills.
Effective communication with staff and program participants.
Ability to respond effectively and quickly in varying situations.
Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
Ability to understand and complete paperwork and record-keeping in order to complete duties.
Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, scanner, etc.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Prior coaching experience as a team member or coach is preferred.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities
