About The Position

Oversees the prevention, rehabilitation and treatment of athletic trauma; evaluates patient injuries and delivers immediate medical care and first aid; maintains medical records and supplies; monitors team practices and competitions; and coordinates educational effort of the students in the athletics training program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year of related experience.
  • National BOC of Athletic Training
  • Licensed by AZ Board of Athletic Training
  • CPR/AED for professional rescuers or BLS (Advanced CPR) certification required.
  • Background Verification: Standard level.
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develops programs for the prevention of athletic trauma or conditions that adversely affect the health or the performance of the athlete, such as the construction and application of all types of protective devices that support body parts including adhesive taping and braces.
  • Develops, recommends and implements procedures for the management (injury recognition and evaluation, injury management/treatment and disposition, injury rehabilitation) of athletic trauma or other medical problems that affect the athlete; evaluates for attention and referral.
  • Assists in preparing requests for supplemental health insurance for student athletes and reviews bids; completes insurance report forms on accidents and injuries; verifies claim information for payment; and maintains student health records and injury histories of athletes.
  • Maintains student medical records pertaining to athletic training injuries and histories of athletes, including collection of required preparticipation physicals, while adhering to HIPAA laws.
  • Works cooperatively with coaches in setting up and carrying out a program of conditioning for athletes.
  • Ensures compliance with the College’s Athletics Drug Testing Program; makes sure that all paperwork is completed; monitors sample collections; verifies validity of test; submits samples to diagnostic lab for testing; receives test results and forwards to Athletics Director; and maintains records and files.
  • Counsels and advises student athletes and coaches on matters pertaining to health of athletes.
  • Monitors the Athletics Training Department budget; purchases equipment and supplies (including medical) for the training room.
  • Monitors all team practices and athletic competitions; travels to away competitions.
  • Performs other duties commensurate with functions and level of position or as assigned.
