About The Position

The sports dietitian at The Ohio State University will help oversee all aspects of nutritional needs as it pertains to player education, meal plans, menu building, team travel, practice monitoring, hydration, supplement review, and body composition. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged. This role requires building quality relationships and trust with student-athletes in a professional, high-performing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nutrition counseling, preferably with emphasis on sports nutrition.
  • Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association; Certification/Licensure as required by state of practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred but mandatory as long as applicant is pursuing.
  • Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with performance chefs in facility to write menus that best fit needs and taste for athletes.
  • Work with outside vendors to procure meals and snacks for athletes.
  • Collaborate with team hotels and stadium to ensure all needs are met for team travel (as needed by team and director of operations).
  • Evaluate dietary supplements for safety, quality and efficacy
  • Conducts one-on-one counseling sessions with athletes and develop individualized meal plans.
  • Conducts player nutrition education (team education, meal presence, etc.).
  • Assist with body composition testing.
  • Manage daily hydration testing and sweat testing as needed.
  • Remain up to date on current research and translate the latest scientific evidence into practical sports nutrition recommendations.
  • Work in collaboration with the sports performance team to optimize the health and wellness of student-athlete.
  • Precept grad student as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned
