About The Position

Love Sports? Love Working With Kids? Come Coach With Us! Bonney Lake Recreation is looking for enthusiastic coaches to lead youth recreation athletes in after-school programs! Coaches will work with young athletes at select Sumner-Bonney Lake School District facilities, helping kids develop athletic skills, teamwork, confidence, and a love of the game.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess Washington State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City and the City's insurance carrier.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Successful passing of a required background check
  • Attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Practice customer service focus.
  • Maintain positive interactions with all individuals.
  • Build collaborative relationships.
  • Remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Determine priorities and take prompt action.
  • Cognizant to the attitudes, feelings or circumstances of others and have an awareness of how one’s behaviors may impact others.
  • Work effectively with others to achieve common goals.
  • Practice Social awareness.
  • Ability to problem solve challenging matters in a timely manner.
  • Resolves and works through conflict with grace, dignity, tact and respect.
  • Be enthusiastic
  • Focus on skill building and teamwork; not winning at all cost
  • Must be patient, especially with children

  • Be dependable and on time to all scheduled sessions.
  • Be a role model for young athletes assigned to your team by demonstrating good sportsmanship, fair play, good citizenship and full participation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Actively coach at games and practices.
  • Teach the fundamentals of soccer, basketball, volleyball, and/or track and field.
  • Act as a communications liaison between Bonney Lake Recreation Program staff and parents.
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for the children.
  • Learn and follow all rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Put player safety above all else.
  • Attend all meetings, trainings, team practices and games as scheduled by the Recreation Program.
  • Adhere to the Coach’s Ethics and Code of Conduct
  • Create an environment of teamwork and respect.
  • Commitment to working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, promoting a sense of belonging, and actively identifying and removing barriers to inclusion.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
