About The Position

Scheels is seeking a part-time Sports and Exercise Sales Associate. As an employee-owner, you will be expected to actively contribute to a culture that thrives on delivering a personalized customer experience, maintaining a team-first mentality, adapting to change, taking pride in your work, and acting with honesty and integrity. This role involves greeting customers, determining their needs, recommending products, and creating a positive end-user experience. You will also be responsible for maintaining visual merchandising standards, processing freight, restocking inventory, and demonstrating product usage. The position requires the ability to use personal and handheld inventory computers/scanners and assist in training new associates. The schedule involves varied evenings, weekends, and holidays, with an average of 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-3 months of sales experience
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to work varied evenings, weekends, holidays during normal store hours.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all customers on the sales floor with genuine courtesy and a smile, to ensure they feel welcomed the moment they enter your shop
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by seeking out and engaging with customers, going through the steps of the sale to determine their needs, recommending appropriate products, and promoting the Scheels Visa Credit Card
  • Grow personal sales by consistently hitting set goals and following Scheels' professional salesmanship standards and the steps of the sale to provide an above-and-beyond customer experience
  • Create a positive end-user experience based on the products the customer is purchasing
  • Maintain a high standard of visual merchandising and support the team with freight processing and inventory restocking
  • Ability to demonstrate product usage within their shop and retrieve product from heights of greater than 6 ft
  • Attend all required Scheels product training and all store meetings
  • Assist in the training of new associates in the areas of the store's expertise
  • Ability to navigate a personal computer and a handheld inventory computer/scanner. Programs include: Microsoft Office, Google Email / Docs, and AS400
  • Assist in all other assigned duties by the leadership team
