About The Position

KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News is seeking an outstanding Sports Anchor/Reporter to join their team in Central California. This role involves covering local sports across television, digital, social, and streaming platforms, with a focus on impactful storytelling, breaking news, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will excel at covering high school, college, and professional sports from both the anchor desk and in the field. This position requires a highly organized and proactive individual who can plan, shoot, write, and edit their own stories and produce sportscasts. Collaboration with the station's other sports anchor is essential for breaking news and comprehensive event coverage.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience required.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work well under deadline pressure.
Strong organizational/planning skills.
College degree.
Strong understanding of local sports and ability to tell stories that go beyond the scores.
Excellent writing, shooting, editing, and producing skills.
Proven ability to connect viewers across linear and digital channels.
Active engagement with social media for both news gathering and audience promotion.
Strong network-building skills and a proven record of developing great contacts and sources.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Central California.
Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Dalet.

Responsibilities

Cover local sports from the anchor desk and out in the field.
Plan, shoot, write, and edit own stories.
Produce own sportscasts.
Collaborate with other sports anchor to break big sports stories and ensure all major events are covered.
Engage with social media for news gathering and audience promotion.
Represent KFSN-TV/ABC30 at community events, promotions, and speaking engagements.
