Sports Activity Specialist Staten Island
About The Position
New York Edge is seeking passionate and enthusiastic Day Camp Sport Specialists. This role involves designing and leading engaging physical activities that promote teamwork, fitness, and skill development. The specialist will create a fun and inclusive environment where students of all abilities can participate and build confidence through sports. Additionally, they will ensure safety, provide coaching, and foster a positive learning experience for all participants. Specialists will be required to report to the school building and interact with staff, students, parents, and school administration.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and the Department of Health
Nice To Haves
- College credits and/or degrees are highly preferred
- Experience working with children strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with and among students
- Teach or co-lead daily activities
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities
- Prepare materials for daily activities
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
- Support the coordination of program events
- Input data and prepare reports
- Administer pre and post-assessments and evaluations for student activities
- Other duties may be assigned.
