LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sport Manager, Flag Football Role Purpose You will lead the operational planning that delivers the Olympic Flag Football Tournament at the 2028 Games. Reporting to the Head of Exposition Park Venues & Sport, you serve as LA28's subject-matter expert for Flag Football and the primary liaison with the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). With the sport making its Olympic debut, you help create its tournament structure, venues, schedules, and workforce, coordinating across LA28's functional areas to deliver a competition worthy of the moment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience delivering national- and international-level sporting events in a leadership role, with extensive knowledge of Flag Football across multiple levels.
  • A clear understanding of IF rules and regulations for Flag Football, with coordination experience with international and US sport governing bodies, including IFAF.
  • Extensive experience recruiting, training, and leading a large, diverse workforce for sporting events; fluent with Office suite products, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and highly organized, with well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct Olympic and Paralympic sport experience at a previous OCOG or multi-sport Games, or delivering international-federation events.
  • Experience planning and delivering sport for diverse groups of athletes, attentive to how ability, gender, and other identities shape their experiences.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with IFAF and coordinate with Venues and Infrastructure, Event Management, and other functional areas on competition and training venue design.
  • Act as LA28's subject-matter expert for Flag Football, refining Event Operating Plans and validating equipment requirements with IFAF.
  • Collaborate with IFAF on competition and training schedules, and coordinate with Timing, Scoring and Results to integrate their requirements into systems and infrastructure.
  • Design the Olympic Flag Football Tournament structure — headcount, roles, and hiring — and lead recruitment, onboarding, and day-to-day leadership of the Competition Management workforce.
  • Serve as the point of entry and stakeholder manager for IFAF, managing pre-Games site visits, Sport Delivery Plan inputs, and senior-leadership briefings.
