About The Position

The Sponsorship & Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing revenue-generating partnerships for WVU Student Media through advertising, sponsorships, and underwriting opportunities. The position works collaboratively with WVU Strategic Partnerships & Licensing to expand sponsorship opportunities across Student Life initiatives while supporting revenue needs for student media outlets including the student newspaper and radio station. This role blends media sales, partnership development, and experiential sponsorship opportunities while maintaining alignment with the educational mission of student media.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, media, or related field
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in advertising sales, sponsorship sales, or partnership development
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with digital advertising products
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment

Responsibilities

  • Secure advertising and underwriting revenue for student newspaper (print and digital), student radio station underwriting, and student media digital platforms.
  • Develop advertising packages across print, digital, audio, and newsletter products.
  • Maintain relationships with local and regional advertisers.
  • Identify and secure sponsorship opportunities connected to Student Life programs, campus events, student media initiatives, and special publications or media projects.
  • Develop sponsorship packages that provide visibility across media channels.
  • Collaborate with WVU Strategic Partnerships & Licensing to identify shared partnership opportunities.
  • Align sponsorship efforts with university brand standards and partnership policies.
  • Build long-term partnerships with organizations that support student media and the Division of Student Life.
  • Build sponsorship opportunities for Radio, print, podcasts, websites, newsletters, digital services, live events.
  • Develop creative advertising integrations that align with modern media consumption.
  • Maintain CRM or sales tracking systems.
  • Track revenue progress toward annual sales goals.
  • Prepare revenue reports and forecasts.
  • Supervise and manage a small team of student staff focused on sales, marketing, and partnership development for Student Media.
  • Train and mentor student staff in media sales, client communication, sponsorship development, and professional business practices.
  • Support students in developing client pitches, sponsorship proposals, and advertising campaigns across print, digital, audio, and event-based platforms.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve student performance in revenue generation and partnership development.
  • Coordinate student involvement in sponsorship activations, events, and branded media initiatives.
  • Track student sales activity and contributions to overall revenue goals.
