About The Position

In this position, the Sponsored Research Contract Administrator will manage pre and post award activities for an assigned portfolio of contracts within the Office of Sponsored Research unit using knowledge of contract management rules and regulations, financial budget management, technical expertise, and analytical skills, including guidance on what issues may present a compliance liability to the university. Serve as a liaison among university administration, principal investigators, faculty, staff, and funding agency representatives. Responsible for providing guidance to principal investigators regarding federal and non-federal contract administration, including but not limited to adherence to FAR, DFAR, Part 2 CFR 200 of the Uniform Guidance and other government regulations including applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the university and sponsoring agency. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on budget management of contracts awarded to the university. Responsible for recording and maintaining sponsored projects information in the university systems. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field with 3-5 years of related experience.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 5-10 years of experience in contracts, grants, or financial management will be considered.
  • Excellent attention to detail, outstanding customer service and strong communication skills are required for this position.
  • Pre-award Contract management experience or demonstrated experience with managing multi-part contract proposals, technical documents, and budgets.
  • Post-award Contract management experience or demonstrated experience with managing multi-part contracts, technical documents, and budgets.
  • The ability to manage a high volume of work and competing deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
  • Comfort working remotely and using tools to facilitate remote work, e.g., Teams, Zoom.
  • Comfort with business systems that hold financial and administrative information, such as Workday.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, to include Microsoft Word, Shared Drives, OneDrive, and Excel, to include use and understanding of Excel formulas.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CRA and/or Contract Certification(s) and master’s degree a plus.
  • Experience with sponsors who support aeronautical research (FAA, DoD, USAF, USSF, NASA etc.) a plus.
  • Familiarity with contracting guidelines as detailed in the FAR, DFAR, ITAR and CFR, also experience with STTR and SBIR contracts is a plus.
  • Experience working in higher education with knowledge of Sponsored Research, including the principles, methods, and procedures of contract administration and compliance.
