About The Position

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a Sponsored Projects Officer Lead Proposal to lead the Sponsored Projects Officer Proposal team. This role involves coordinating with the Sponsored Projects Manager, monitoring proposal deadlines and workloads, distributing work, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring the quality of proposal submissions. The Lead Proposal Officer will also stay updated on funding sponsor guidelines, troubleshoot complex proposal issues, and provide training to faculty and staff. This position is crucial for maintaining high-quality proposal submissions and supporting the hospital's research endeavors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience, required.
  • Eight years of related experience, required.

  • Experience in research administration, accounting, or equivalent experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors upcoming proposal and workload for the Sponsored Projects Officer Proposal team to plan and prepare for proposal deadlines.
  • Assists with team metrics and workload distribution.
  • Performs job performance evaluations of assigned staff and problem-solving.
  • Monitors, reviews, and evaluates proposal processes of the proposal team; assists management with assessing need, planning for improvement, and facilitating implementation.
  • Maintains a current understanding of funding sponsors, their guidelines, and their priorities and informs the Sponsored Projects Officer Proposal team of sponsor and system updates.
  • Assists SPOs and Sr. SPOs with troubleshooting of complex issues related to proposal preparation, project budget, and other proposal components for proposal submission.
  • Performs quality control for funding proposals, analyzes results, and implements new policies and procedures to ensure SPO reviews strengthen the quality of proposal submissions.
  • Produces proposal metrics and reports for leadership.
  • Maintains a high level of professional knowledge through self-study, research, participation in professional development, and attendance at webinars and conferences.
  • Disseminates information on changes with NIH and other sponsors guidelines, forms, requirements, regulations, etc., and provides formal and informal training for faculty and staff.
  • Develops, monitors, and reviews training and onboarding plans.
  • Provides continuing education for staff.
  • Provides coverage for vacancies and leaves of absence, including all primary SPO responsibilities, when needed.
