About The Position

Houston Habitat for Humanity is committed to a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Their work includes new home construction, home rehabilitation and disaster repair, infrastructure development for new communities, neighborhood revitalization and guiding Houston families to become homeowners. Houston Habitat has built more than 1,200 homes in 12 Houston neighborhoods. In addition to building, the organization has also repaired homes throughout Houston due to natural disasters; since Hurricane Harvey Houston Habitat has repaired more than 700 homes for families who are without resources to make repairs. Requirements

  • 2 - 3 years nonprofit, fundraising, and/or sales experience
  • Established fundraising success and achievement of institutional goals
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including the ability to create and/or deliver compelling donor correspondence, proposals, presentations, and related materials
  • Must have the ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and in computer-based information systems
  • The ability to work independently and as a team
  • The ability to adapt quickly to changing environments
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • The ability to perform essential functions of job; reasonable accommodation available
  • The ability to perform in an office setting and outdoors (heat, humidity, rain, and cold)
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage donor relationships with corporations and organizations that support Houston Habitat
  • Identify, solicit, cultivate and grow contributions from a portfolio of new and existing donors to meet annual fundraising goals
  • Work collaboratively with donors and staff on build site volunteering, home dedications and other events
  • Effectively communicate the Houston Habitat story, mission and needs, verbally and in writing
  • Collaborate with the Development team and other staff members to identify and enhance fundraising opportunities
  • Represent Houston Habitat at internal and external community and professional events
  • In consultation with the Assistant Development Director, annually establish personal goals, objectives, and strategies for fundraising, and regularly assess progress toward goals
  • Maintain complete and accurate records on the network and in the donor database
  • Work with the donor services specialist to ensure that all sponsor monetary donations and/or in-kind commitments are properly documented and paid
  • Complete other duties and activities as assigned.
