About The Position

The Splicer is to assist with various underground and aerial splicing projects. This position will prep copper cables, perform single and modular (710) and MS2 splices, utilize various splicing hand tools, and testers, etc. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation of splicing knowledge, a strong work ethic, and a safety-oriented mindset.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1-3+ Years’ experience performing or assisting with splicing copper distribution cables.
  • Basic Knowledge with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to route aerial, underground, ISP cables to include hanging aerial and installation in racks, shelves, and storage locations.
  • Entry level ability to perform single and modular (710 and MS2) splicing, install pressurized cases in manholes and encapsulate buried splices.
  • Ability to ring-tap cable into splicing cases.
  • Ability to determine the following: cable direction in all circumstances, safe practices within all splicing functions when entering splice cases, etc.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Strong Time-Management Skills, accountability, and ability to prioritize tasks to meet expectations.
  • Self-Motivated
  • Strong Organizational and problem-solving Skills by having a solutions-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic jobsite preparation for various underground and aerial splicing projects.
  • Installs various copper cables into an assortment of cases, pedestals, X-Connects etc.
  • Installation and dressing of copper cabling.
  • Troubleshoot copper cable.
  • Mechanical modular and single types of copper connectors.
  • Install and maintain pressurized closures.
  • Performs a variety of copper splicing cuts and testing.
  • Mid-level understanding of opening vaults and hand holes.
  • Processes cable relocations and hot cuts with hand hole organization.
  • Reads and interprets entry level constructions prints and drawing.
  • Performs maintenance on various splicing equipment.
  • Ensure safety requirements are being followed.
  • Safely operates company vehicles, hand tools, and construction equipment as needed and directed by management.
  • Provide your own tools and equipment.
