About The Position

The Youth Connection is seeking a Community Organizer to lead youth-driven initiatives focused on leadership development, substance use prevention, and community change in Metro Detroit. This role offers an opportunity to mentor youth, build community partnerships, and grow a career in nonprofit leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1+ year experience in community work, youth programs, or organizing.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with youth development, community organizing, or prevention programs.
• Passion for working with youth and underserved communities.
• Comfortable facilitating groups, workshops, or trainings.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar tools).

Responsibilities

• Build and support youth leadership groups in Metro Detroit.
• Organize and mobilize youth and adults around community initiatives.
• Develop relationships with schools, parents, and community partners.
• Support college campus outreach and organizing efforts.
• Help plan and execute community campaigns and events.
• Facilitate workshops, trainings, and youth engagement activities.
• Assist with program evaluation and data tracking.
