Requirements
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or similarly-titled area that is consistent and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or be eligible to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow. Candidates eligible to obtain the Certificate of Clinical Competence will also be accepted.
- Licensed, certified or credentialed, as required in the state of practice.
Responsibilities
- Help patients get their power back by assisting them to communicate, swallow, and work to diminish or remediate disorders or deficits.
- Take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services, designing and executing plans with patients.
- Address the whole patient as an individual and design programs to restore, reinforce, and enhance speech and communication abilities.
- Adapt to patient needs and find joy in the variety of work and settings.
- Collaborate with peers and make referrals to ensure patients receive necessary care.
- Train patients and caregivers on skills needed to promote independence and productivity.
