Under the leadership of the IRU department director, the Staff Speech/Language Therapist is responsible for supporting the mission of the hospital by providing quality speech therapy services. The Speech/Language Therapist applies evidence, knowledge, and skills to positively affect swallowing, cognitive, and expressive skills, and life satisfaction of patients of all ages who have impairments of aural, oral, and brain functions resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. The Speech/Language Therapist is a qualified individual who diagnoses, prognoses, prescribes for, and/or remediates speech, and/or language and/or orofacial myofunction disorders. The Speech/Language Therapist interacts, collaborates, and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team, physicians, patients, and patients’ families for optimal patient and program outcomes. The Speech Therapist shall also assist with any and all other duties as assigned.
