About The Position

Evaluates and treats speech and language pathologies in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting. This role involves completing initial evaluations, developing treatment plans, providing therapy, documenting patient progress, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Certificate for Clinical Competence through American Speech language Hearing Association, ASHA
  • CPR/BLS certification
  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Knowledge of Speech and Language Pathologies
  • Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies related to the provision of rehabilitation services including HIPAA confidentiality and JCAHO mandates.
  • Knowledge of required assessment tests and tools
  • Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, orally and in written form with patients family, physician and health care professionals, and insurance companies in the exchange of information.
  • Ability to analyze to develop treatment plans and goals
  • Demonstrates professional appearance
  • Analytical ability to assess patient progress and recommend appropriate changes to the plan of care
  • Mental ability to complete required documentation in a timely manner, deal with the concerns of patients and their families, and handle frequent scheduling changes
  • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year of related speech therapy, or school-based experience

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial speech therapy evaluation and develops a treatment plan of care for assigned patients.
  • Provides Speech therapy treatment after analyzing patient information to determine the needs and problems appropriate for speech and language pathologies.
  • Documents patient treatments, initial evaluation, progress notes and discharge summaries in a timely manner in accordance with hospital policies and insurance requirements.
  • Performs speech therapy re-evaluations to assess patient progress; recommends changes to the treatment plan of care as appropriate.
  • Communicates regularly with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patient families, insurance companies and other regarding patient’s treatment and progress.
  • Prepares and adapts instructional material and therapy aids.
  • Assists in scheduling patient treatments/appointments along with referring patients to other hospital services.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-service programs as required.
  • Assist in maintaining therapy equipment and cleaning treatment areas; orders supplies as necessary.
  • Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values and customer service initiatives. Adheres to organization’s policies and procedures, and compliance guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
