About The Position

This recruitment is being given to fill 1 part-time position in the San Joaquin County and to establish an eligible referral pool to fill future part-time opportunities. Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved college or university with a master’s degree in communicative disorders (speech therapy).
  • Within 60 days of hire, must file applications for: 1) a Clinical Fellowship Year from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and 2) the Required Professional Experience to qualify for licensure with the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers’ Board.
  • Current principles, methods, techniques, equipment and materials used in speech therapy, possible reactions of and hazards to patients during treatment, and of precautionary and remedial measure; anatomy and physiology related to treatment; psychological and physiological problems of persons with disabling conditions.
  • Organize and implement speech therapy treatment programs; conduct individual and group treatment programs; interpret and adapt physician’s orders and/or written reports; communicate effectively; work independently; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, families, staff and others; maintain excellent customer relations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs speech therapy evaluations of patients and interprets findings.
  • Plans and implements therapeutic treatment for patients; establishes appropriate treatment goals; uses equipment properly.
  • Coordinates treatment programs with physicians, nurses, professional and para-professional staff.
  • Maintains accurate records and prepares written reports.
  • Attends staff meetings and patient conferences; participates in in-service and staff development classes.
