The Perlman Center is a specialty center serving patients with cerebral palsy and similar diagnoses from birth through adult. We provide evidence-based therapies in a group setting with a multi-disciplinary team (early intervention through pre-school age, and some school-age small groups), and provide a wide range of specialty assistive technology evaluations and treatment. Specialty services include evaluations and treatment for: Augmentative and Alternative Communication for those with complex communication disorders (AAC- in coordination with OT), computer access. Speech Pathology competency areas include AAC, dysphagia, birth to three. Our specialists in the Division of Speech-Language Pathology believe it’s their job to create a positive atmosphere in which a child can learn to enjoy communication. We have the largest and one of the best programs in the nation. Our highly trained experts focus on personalized care, demonstrating our commitment to the best outcome for your child. We begin with a comprehensive evaluation. Based on the evaluation results, an individualized treatment plan is developed for the child, with input from the family. In each case, the speech-language pathologist involves the family in the treatment process to ensure not only the best treatment outcomes, but also a high level of family satisfaction with the process. Our efforts are also directed toward making the therapy a positive and enjoyable experience for the child.
