About The Position

Mozaic (A Chapter of The Arc NY) is seeking a Speech Pathologist to provide services to people with disabilities, helping them improve or manage their speech and communication skills. The role involves conducting assessments and delivering therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities, with the aim of supporting them in living in the least restrictive settings, such as their homes or day programs, particularly in areas where these services are scarce.

Requirements

Master's Degree in Speech and Language
New York State licensure
Experience with developmentally disabled preferred

Nice To Haves

Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped by NYS Education Department is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides individualized speech and language services in one-on-one and group settings.
Tailors interventions to meet each person's unique communication needs, including language development support, interpretive assistance, and comprehensive speech and language therapy.
Collaborates with families and caregivers to implement treatment strategies that promote successful outcomes and support individuals in remaining in their homes or care placements.
Advocates for the rights and needs of the individuals supported.
Participates in treatment reviews as appropriate.
Serves as a key communication liaison among individuals, families, day programs, residences, and external agencies to ensure coordinated and consistent care.
Provides training and guidance to agency staff on effective speech and language strategies.
Supports the integration of communication-focused techniques into daily routines to promote long-term success.
