About The Position

The Speech Pathologist position at MultiCare offers an exciting opportunity to provide clinical services and engage in communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. This role allows you to apply your extensive knowledge and expertise in speech pathology across a diverse patient population. Auburn Medical Center serves areas including ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, ED, ortho, total joint replacements, neuro, and podiatry. Covington is a smaller community hospital focusing on PCU, Med/Surg, elective Total Joints, Ortho, and Podiatric populations. MultiCare utilizes EPIC for all electronic medical records. The department productivity standard is 69% for an 8-hour day, with an expectation of seeing 7-9 patients per day once established. This per diem role requires participation in a weekend rotation schedule and weekday availability for sick call and PTO coverage. All employees are expected to cross-cover both Auburn and Covington Medical Centers, with training provided for both sites during the initial months. Per diem staff are also required to work a minimum of one holiday per year and complete mandatory education/training on the clock outside of shift hours. The New Employee Orientation process is rigorous for the first few weeks to a month, with certain aspects being mandatory regarding scheduling. Departmental orientation and training will follow the initial days.

Requirements

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association OR be in the process of completing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with supervision by a CCC-SLP in accordance with standards defined by the ASHA.
  • Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Washington or holding an interim permit.
  • Current BLS Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, interpretation, and reporting of clinical observations.
  • Perform patient assessments with physician and develop treatment plans.
  • Perform and interpret results of Videofluoroscopic swallow studies and fiberoptic endoscopic of swallowing.
  • Confer with physician and other health care professionals.
