Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Speech Therapist license or Educational Limited SLP License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in evaluation and therapy of children with disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, intervention and follow-up services for disorders of speech and language
  • Provide training and support to teachers, other professionals and family members of individuals with speech, voice, language communication and swallowing disabilities
  • Develop and establish effective augmentative and alternative communication techniques and strategies, including selecting, prescribing and dispensing of aids and devices and training individuals in their use
  • Work with adaptive devices (ex. speaking, swallowing)
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, school personnel and community representatives
  • Maintain accurate and timely records
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and exhibit professional growth
  • Manage a safe and comfortable learning environment
  • Prepare for and participate in the non-public service plan
  • Inform supervisor of student’s progress and programmatic concerns
  • Direct students in clinical or pre-clinical training, volunteers and attendant personnel that may be assigned to him/her
  • Comply with school district policies and procedures
  • Effectively participate in meetings, committees, staffing’s and other required district and building activities in a positive manner
  • Effectively plan and organize duties as well as personal work environment
  • Comply with Medicaid billing procedures
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
