Requirements

  • Assesses patients for speech related therapy needs due to cognitive, communicative and/or swallowing deficits.
  • Establishes treatment goals, develops and implements appropriate Speech Pathology treatment program.
  • Reviews medical history, applies screening tests, and meets with patient to determine clinical needs, impairments, functional limitation and disabilities.
  • Establishes a plan of care in collaboration with patient and family to include expected intensity, duration of therapy and makes recommendations for discharge.
  • Provides education to patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding purpose of activity, use of equipment, home exercise, and activity.
  • Performs regular re-examinations and seeks feedback from patient, family, and multidisciplinary medical team.
  • Manages multiple patients at the same time.
  • Provides services and required documentation timely, accurately, and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in outside continuing education and incorporates information into practice.
  • Assists with educating and orienting new staff, acts as clinical instructor for students and interns, and participates as instructor in an established class or program.
  • Participates in educational events within the clinic and community.
  • Attends specific clinical education coursework which meet the guidelines of the California Speech-Language Pathology Board and provides in-services to staff.
  • Performs clinical consultations with staff.
  • Provides input on equipment and supplies.
  • Participates in planning and executes on marketing plans.
  • Assists with developing and implementing a program, policies and dashboard measures for Rehabilitation Services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
