About The Position

Atlantic Health is searching for a fully-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) for the Rehabilitation Department at Chilton Medical Center's inpatient (acute care) unit. The Speech-Language Pathologist in this setting is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with communication, cognitive‑linguistic, voice, and swallowing disorders associated with acute medical, neurological, surgical, and traumatic conditions. The CCC-SLP collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary medical team to support safe, effective, and timely patient care throughout acute hospitalization. Requirements

  • Fully-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing evaluations for adult and/or pediatric patients in acute care units (e.g., ICU, medical‑surgical floors, stroke units).
  • Perform bedside swallow evaluations and instrumental assessments when indicated (e.g., Modified Barium Swallow Studies).
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence‑based treatment plans aligned with medical status and discharge goals.
  • Provide patient and family education related to diagnosis, prognosis, and recommended interventions.
  • Recommend appropriate diet consistencies, compensatory strategies, and communication supports to promote patient safety.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans to reflect clinical changes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, care conferences, and discharge planning.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, dietitians, case managers, and therapy colleagues.
  • Provide timely documentation and verbal updates regarding patient status and recommendations.
  • Complete documentation in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and ethical standards of practice.
  • Maintain productivity standards while ensuring quality patient care.
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, and competencies.
  • Participate in continuing education and departmental initiatives.
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects and evidence‑based practice initiatives as assigned.
