About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of speech and language services to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLPA assists in implementing treatment plans, documenting student progress, and helping students improve communication skills that impact academic and social success.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field
Valid SLPA license issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
Knowledge of speech and language development and disorders
Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed SLP
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of articulation, language, fluency, and voice disorders
Ability to follow treatment plans and adapt activities as directed
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families

Nice To Haves

Bilingual (Spanish) skills preferred
Experience working in school-based settings
Familiarity with special education processes and IEP implementation
Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) tools

Responsibilities

Implement speech and language therapy activities as directed by the supervising SLP
Provide direct services to students in individual and small group settings
Follow and support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and therapy goals
Collect data and document student progress toward goals
Assist the SLP with preparing therapy materials and activities
Maintain accurate and timely service logs and documentation
Support classroom carryover of communication strategies
Collaborate with teachers and staff to reinforce student goals
Participate in team meetings, as appropriate
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policies
