About The Position

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a full-time SLPA for a school setting in Etowah County Schools District. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in student success by supporting the SLP in implementing treatment plans, assisting with screenings and assessments, and helping deliver speech and language services that improve student communication and access in the school setting.

Requirements

Requires an Associate's Degree in Speech Language Pathology Assisting, or a related field approved by the state licensing board
Registered with the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech-Language and Audiology as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Nice To Haves

School-based experience preferred, not required

Responsibilities

Assists the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation.
Assists the SLP during assessment of students, patients, and clients exclusive of administration and/or interpretation.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
Follows documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
Documents student, patient, and client performance and reports this information to the supervising SLP.
Programs and provides instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices.
Assists with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP.
Performs checks and maintenance of equipment.
Assists with departmental operations.
Supports the supervising SLP in research projects, in-service training, public relations programs, and marketing programs.
