About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide education and therapy intervention to students with identified speech and language disorders. This position is scheduled for 8 hours per week and will be split between three schools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university.
  • Active Colorado Department of Education (DOE) certification as an SLPA.
  • Experience working in a school setting, preferably with K-12 populations.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, compassion, patience, adaptability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with supervising speech-language pathologists and school personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist SLPs in conducting individual or group therapy sessions and implement IEPs.
  • Assist with speech and language screenings and evaluations, and help gather data on student performance.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including eligibility determination, annual review, and progress monitoring discussions under the direct supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Prepare rooms for therapy sessions, gather necessary equipment, and organize therapy materials.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized speech-language goals aligned with each student's IEP.
  • Provide specially designed instruction to meet the unique communication needs of students through a variety of service models, under the direct supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Work with SLPs, teachers, school-based staff and parents to support carryover of communication strategies across classroom and home environments.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records.
