About The Position

LEARN Academy is seeking a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for the 2026-2027 School Year in Tucson, Arizona. As a School-Based SLPA, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of comprehensive special education services to children with communication needs. Working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you will assist in implementing evidence-based interventions that enhance students' communication skills and success in their educational environment. You will work across school settings alongside teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers to deliver high-quality support. You will support the IEP process by planning and implementing treatment plans, documenting response to therapeutic intervention, and monitoring progress toward individualized education program (IEP) goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in speech-language pathology
  • Maintain license per ASHA requirements
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint card
  • Presently eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Assist the SLP in conducting speech and language screenings using established protocols without interpretation.
  • Implement speech and language therapy activities designed by the SLP that align with students' IEP goals and educational needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the integration of speech and language strategies into the educational curriculum.
  • Prepare therapy materials and equipment for use in classroom and therapy activities as determined by student needs.
  • Document student progress toward meeting established objectives and report this information to the supervising SLP.
  • Maintain accurate records of student assessments, interventions, and progress.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to stay current with best practices in school-based speech-language pathology.
  • Assist in organizing classroom activities by preparing educational materials and creating an orderly learning environment.
  • Support early intervening services by participating in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) or response to intervention (RTI) initiatives under SLP guidance.
  • Use assistive technology devices for communication as directed by the SLP.
