About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of high-quality speech and language services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This role is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about helping students develop essential communication skills that support academic success and social-emotional growth. The SLPA works directly with students to implement individualized therapy plans, provide targeted interventions, and assist in progress monitoring. This position plays a key role in supporting students with a variety of communication needs, including language development, articulation, and social communication.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program
  • Current SLPA licensure or certification (in accordance with state requirements)
  • Experience working with children or students in an educational or clinical setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with literacy interventions and phonemic awareness strategies
  • Experience with progress monitoring tools and data collection systems
  • Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and MTSS frameworks
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and staff
  • Flexible, proactive, and student-centered approach

Responsibilities

  • Implement speech and language therapy plans developed by the supervising SLP
  • Provide direct services to students individually and in small groups
  • Assist with speech and language screenings, assessments, and data collection
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including session notes, attendance, and progress monitoring data
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support student progress and carryover of skills
  • Support students with expressive/receptive language needs, pragmatic language development, articulation, and phonemic awareness
  • Assist in identifying students who may benefit from speech and language interventions
  • Participate in meetings as appropriate, including IEP, MTSS, and intervention planning meetings
  • Adhere to all professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards
