About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist, PRN, will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide evidence-based evaluation and therapy techniques. This role involves delivering speech treatment in the PACE (Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) setting, specifically for geriatric patients aged 55 and older. The Speech Language Pathologist will conduct evaluations and develop effective treatment plans aimed at restoring, maintaining, or preventing the decline of residents' function. This will be achieved by planning and administering medically prescribed therapy treatments in accordance with federal, state, and professional standards governing the facility. The responsibilities of the Speech Therapist support the mission of UAMS: to improve the health and healthcare of Arkansans. This position is located in Fayetteville, AR.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
  • Licensed as a speech-language pathologist in the state of Arkansas or eligible to apply and obtain a license within one month of hire, and Certificate of Clinical Competence or eligible pending completion of Clinical Fellowship year.
  • Clinical experience with the geriatric population.
  • Knowledge of speech-language pathology principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Skills in conducting comprehensive evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Must possess problem-solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Ability to adhere to federal, state, and professional regulations and standards.
  • Ability to bend, stand, walk, eyesight, hear, drive, speak, and repetitious movement, lifting, weight lifted 50 lbs. lifted to the waist, 50 lbs. chest, 50 lbs. above head, 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts speech-language evaluations.
  • Writes reports detailing scores, descriptions of patients, and the need for therapies.
  • Implements speech therapy.
  • Document services provided.
  • Completes billing and charting procedures.
  • Participates in treatment teams.
  • Maintains knowledge of theories and techniques in the field of communication disorders.
