About The Position

Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital is seeking a part-time Speech Language Pathologist for a PRN-Contingent Non-Benefitted, Day Shift position. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides differential diagnosis of speech and language disorders and implements appropriate therapeutic intervention to maximize communication ability. Active participation in department in-services and educational programs is required. The role involves evaluating and diagnosing speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders, designing and implementing individual treatment plans, and counseling patients and their families. Thorough documentation, patient and family recommendations, and participation in patient conferences are key responsibilities. The position also involves organizing and participating in education activities, providing direction for graduate students and volunteers, and staying current with professional developments. The Speech-Language Pathologist assists the manager in developing new policies, procedures, and programs, and provides quality patient care considering age-specific, developmental, and cultural needs.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Six to twelve months related experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides evaluation and diagnosis of speech, language, swallowing and cognitive-communication disorders.
  • Designs and implements individual treatment plans.
  • Counsels patients and their families concerning social, behavioral and psychological problems associated with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Provides thorough documentation of test data and Speech-Language progress.
  • Provides patient and family recommendations and referrals to appropriate health, educational and vocational sources.
  • Participates in patient conferences when appropriate and communicates with individual members of medical staff concerning patient treatment as necessary.
  • Organizes and participates in education activities for patients, their families, and other health personnel.
  • Provides direction for graduate student affiliates and volunteers.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading the appropriate literature and attending professional conferences.
  • Assists manager in the development of new policies, procedures and programs.
  • Provides quality patient care considering age specific, developmental and cultural needs through competent practice and application of the speech-language pathology profession.
