About The Position

This position is working in our Easterseals Gammon Academy, which is a certified special education school for youth ages 5-21 that have educational disabilities. Student populations range from students with autism and other neurobehavioral challenges to students with mild cognitive impairments and students with social/emotional disabilities. Our school focuses on academic fundamentals as well as the use of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to help students develop behavioral and social skills. This skill-building occurs in a structured setting, supporting and reinforcing the students’ developing self-confidence and self-esteem. The individual in this key position be working to provide services to youth with neurological and or emotional psychological disabilities in a Special Education classroom environment.

Requirements

Master's Degree or its equivalent in the field of Speech Pathology
Current state license in Speech Language Pathology
Experience working with youth with disabilities
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and speech generating devices is a plus!

Responsibilities

Evaluate communication skills

Instruct and counsel students and school staff
Attend IEP meetings and department meetings
