Position Summary The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats residents with communication, cognitive-linguistic, voice, and swallowing disorders. The SLP develops individualized treatment plans that support residents in achieving their functional goals and enhancing their quality of life.

Requirements

  • Current Speech-Language Pathology license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for providing high-quality, resident-centered care.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with geriatric populations is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, voice and swallowing evaluations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on treatment strategies and communication techniques.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support resident-centered care.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
  • Participate in care planning and team meetings.
