About The Position

This role involves screening and evaluating patients/residents, developing care plans, and providing direct patient/resident treatment under physician's direction. The Speech Language Pathologist plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency for individuals with communication, swallowing, or cognitive problems. Responsibilities include administering specialized hearing and speech tests, instructing patients/residents, families, and caregivers, and completing required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. The role also involves devising special tools and treatments, providing comprehensive and compassionate therapy services in a sub-acute/skilled nursing facility, and collaborating with other rehabilitation therapists and nursing staff. Maintaining resident/patient privacy and ensuring punctuality and regular attendance are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • Current license in Speech Language Therapy as required by state law.
  • Valid CPR certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screens and evaluates patients/residents and develops appropriate care plan.
  • Under a physician's direction, provides direct patient/resident treatment based on established plan of care.
  • Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.
  • Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
  • Instructs residents/patients, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.
  • Completes required forms and clinical records in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
  • Documents in patient records in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.
  • Provides comprehensive and compassionate therapy services in a sub-acute/skilled nursing facility setting.
  • Works collaboratively with other rehab therapists and nursing staff in a supportive team-working environment.
  • Maintains resident/patient privacy pursuant to HIPAA.
  • Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.
