About The Position

Pediatric Speech and Language Pathologist Part-time position. Do you enjoy working in a team environment? We provide a variety of supports and services for children with disabilities and their families, both at home and in other community settings (such as preschool.) Provide direct speech and language therapy services to children/families on assigned caseload. Function as a member of the child’s multidisciplinary team by collaborating with families/caregivers, supports coordinators, and other professionals to develop and implement the IFSP/IEP.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited program, with licensure or eligibility in Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to obtain required clearances, including Child Abuse, FBI, NSOR, PA Criminal and Medicaid Fraud.
  • Has a reliable vehicle and an acceptable driving record as per The Arc’s Personnel Policy.
  • Possess valid driver’s license, auto insurance and vehicle registration before hire and ongoing prior to their expiration.
  • Pennsylvania Speech and Language Pathologist license
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and Pennsylvania licensure or eligibility required.
  • Pediatric CPR/First Aid.
  • Mandated Reporter training in compliance with Act 31 and Act 126.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, oral and written skills.
  • Ability to work independently, to set priorities and follow through on details.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed or eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA preferred.
  • Knowledge and training in the field of Pediatric Speech and Language Pathology.
  • Knowledge of child development, including development of the very young child.
  • Knowledge of feeding, assistive technology, and alternative methods of communication for the young child is preferred.
  • Applicable Certifications required by funding agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
  • Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
  • Develop and implement speech and language therapy services including evaluation, ongoing assessment, setting individualized goals, objectives and treatment planning for children in accordance with IEP/IFSP, pending receipt of the physician’s prescription for services.
  • Collaborate with IFSP/IEP team members regarding child/family goals/outcomes and intervention plan.
  • Function as an active member of IFSP/IEP team and communicate effectively with others on the team to ensure high quality of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality per agency policies.
  • Provide families and primary caregivers with training and consultation regarding child and family goals/outcomes, priorities and needs using family guided routines-based intervention model.
  • Participate in evaluation for client equipment and /or adaptive devices needs and assist in the securing of equipment through appropriate channels/sources.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of therapeutic equipment needed by the Speech and Language personnel or staff to support IFSP/IEPs.
  • Prepare for and participate in IFSP/IEP, family, team, or staff meetings.
  • Maintain, complete, and submit in accordance with timelines/deadlines required paperwork, that includes child-related reports, session summary sheets, as required by the agency, and funding agents.
  • Provide relevant training to classroom teaching staff, speech and language support staff, motor support personnel, and volunteers as requested.
  • Communicate ideas, concerns, and needs to designated supervisor or other administrative team members.
  • Participate in Arc sponsored events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
