Speech–Language Pathologists based in public schools are expected to lead the process of development, coordination, and implementation in service delivery to children with identified learning and participation needs in this setting. Screening, evaluation, educational program planning and transition planning, providing therapeutic interventions and strategies, and exit planning is expected of the Speech–Language Pathologist, for students identified with, or suspected of having, disabilities or deficits that interfere with their ability to participate fully and successfully in school. Other duties of the Speech–Language Pathologist may include consultation services, supervision of support staff, and related administrative tasks as part of service delivery within a school building and district. A therapist may have to provide services at several work locations. The workday is typically 8 hours of scheduled work time.
