About The Position

Vertis Therapy is a growing, therapist-owned company seeking a Part-Time or consistent PRN Speech Language Pathologist for their assisted living facility with memory care in Kansas City, KS. The company emphasizes quality, patient-centered care and offers flexible scheduling with 1:1 treatments and no weekends required.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice.
  • Must meet the educational requirements for certification and be in the process of accumulating supervised experience or meet the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology granted by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adequate computer skills for job duties and computerized documentation.
  • Demonstrated competency in applying principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in speech therapy.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in geriatric rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with physician's orders using therapeutic procedures to address deficits in speech, language, hearing, swallowing, and cognition, aiming to improve independence, safety, and quality of life.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing support and information within the scope of speech therapy.
  • Review patient information and assess its impact on the evaluation and treatment process.
  • Conduct and document thorough functional patient assessments using standardized procedures, including home/vocational and equipment needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with achievable functional goals based on patient needs.
  • Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.
  • Record patient progress at least every seven days.
  • Revise treatment plans as necessary.
  • Document the course of treatment clearly and concisely, including a discharge summary.
  • Orient patients to program services and appropriate treatment procedures, informing them of potential risks.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, patients, and families to maximize patients' functional abilities.
  • Instruct patients and families/caregivers on exercises and therapeutic procedures for post-discharge continuation.
  • Assist with the referral process for patients requiring additional services post-discharge and maintain knowledge of community resources.
  • Attend rehabilitation team conferences and other department/facility meetings as required.
  • Access continuing education opportunities to maintain clinical accuracy.
  • Participate in the quality improvement process by responding to medical record audits, patient/referral source satisfaction surveys, safety activities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with Vertis Therapy policies, procedures, and federal/professional standards and guidelines.
  • Promote Vertis Therapy's programs and services through community interactions.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
