About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist will support clients receiving specialized assessment, intervention and interdisciplinary coordination for cleft lip and palate/craniofacial disorders. Working with a dental treatment program, children are seen from birth (or pre-birth if a cleft palate is diagnosed prenatally) to 21 years of age. Additionally, this position will provide intervention to school-aged and preschool children with developmental, and/or neurological disabilities with a range of communication and speech and language delays and disorders. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing multi-disciplinary assessment, parent-mediated and individual and group child interventions and community consultation. Mentoring is available in all areas of practice. Therapy sessions may be conducted on-site or in the community.

Requirements

  • CASLPO registration
  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Comprehensive knowledge of communication development, preschool communication disorders and neurological and/ or developmental disabilities
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability to initiate and work independently
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle for travel in the community
  • Willingness to participate in criminal reference check
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)

Nice To Haves

  • Hanen certification in parent training programs
  • Minimum 2- 3 years pediatric experience working with preschoolers with special needs
  • Experience in augmentative communication
  • Fluency in French
