About The Position

Mercyhealth is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join their team. This role involves performing evaluations and assessments, developing effective plans of care, and applying critical thinking and integrative treatment to improve patient functional levels. The position requires maintaining thorough records of services, including appropriate coding and billing, and communicating with other disciplines and referring providers to enhance outcomes. The Speech Language Pathologist will also be responsible for thorough and timely electronic documentation, assisting in the orientation and training of new partners, participating in cost-saving initiatives and performance improvement processes, and maintaining a high standard of patient care with effective communication among the healthcare team. Additionally, the role includes planning and conducting lectures and training programs on speech language pathology topics.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology
  • Licensed as a speech language pathologist in WI, IL or both if required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • CPR/BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Passing the Driver’s License check
  • Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check

Responsibilities

  • Performs evaluation / assessment using evidence-based standards to create an effective plan of care.
  • Applies critical thinking and integrative treatment to improve the functional level of the patient.

  • Assists in the orientation, training and mentoring of new partners.
  • Participates in cost saving initiatives within the department.
  • Active participant in the Performance Improvement process.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care and provide effective communication between speech language pathologists, nursing and rehabilitation team, and the physician group.
  • Plans and conducts lectures and training programs on speech language pathology and related topics for medical staff, students and community group.
