About The Position

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) is committed to providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe, and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically. They serve 59,000 residents across Lunenburg and Queens Counties, encompassing 5,250 square kilometers and 23 schools. Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communication Disorders or an equivalent Masters Degree.
  • Eligible for certification by the Canadian Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification.
  • The ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Advanced technological skills.
  • The ability to conduct effective presentations.
  • Ability to work independently, while also working as a communicative member of the Student Development team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to introduce a positive influence to initiatives.
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse Register Check and Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Checks (current checks less than 3 months old can be attached).

Responsibilities

  • Implements and administers policies, procedures, and guidelines related to the provision of speech-language pathology in South Shore Schools.
  • Supports the implementation of Guidelines for the Provision of Speech-Language Pathology Services and the South Shore Regional Centre for Education Special Education Policy.
  • Collaborates with schools, regions, and community service providers in the delivery of programming and services for children and youth.
  • Works with regional personnel to support program planning teams in linking assessment and instructional practice.
  • Provides training regarding the role of speech-language pathology in student programming.
  • Recommends courses of action to the Coordinator of Student Development Elementary Level regarding speech-language pathology and related programming and services.
  • Prepares correspondence, reports, and research studies, and conducts consultations.
  • Represents the South Shore Regional Centre for Education on committees, interdepartmental initiatives, working groups, and associations.
  • Reviews, researches, and compiles reports and prepares correspondence for the Region.
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
